Lali Katz was born in 1973 and grew up in Los Angeles, Ca. In the year 2000 moved to Tel-Aviv where she currently lives and works.
A graduate of the Avni Art Institute Katz paints in a figurative-expressive style and deals with objects that touch her emotionally, which she later integrates into her artistic world. The cultural transition as well as a sense of foreignness and alienation characterize her work. Her colorful paintings focus on objects or characters who she usually sets up and poses in various compositions and sets while incorporating childhood themes such as the palm tree and various animals which accompany her from her suburban childhood and until this day.
Katz perceives painting as something to strive for, when becoming a painter is not an achievement that comes overnight but the culmination of a work process that lasts a lifetime. These are years of inner fire and a strong desire to express passion in color and form.
